The information given below is about the district Lalmonirhat of Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. Lalmonirhat district is in the north most division of Bangladesh which was Previously under the Rajshahi division. It is situated at the north side boarder of bangladesh with india. Lalmonirhat has emerged as a district on the first February in 1984 alltogether with the institutions of five Upazilas, two munacipilities. Five subdistricts are-Lalmanirhat Sador, Aditmari, Kaligank, [Hatibanda] and Patgram. Two Municipalities: Lalmonirhat Sadar and Patgram.

Population:1088918 .male 50.57%, female 49.43%
Religion: Muslim 83.2%, Hindu 16.5%, Buddhist 0.01%, Christian 0.13%, ethnic religion(0.16%).
Ethnic community: Koch, Rajbanshi and Santal
Literacy rate: 66.6%; male 63.9%, female 69.9%.
Boundary: Lalmanirhat is bounded by Kuchbihar and Jalpaiguri districts of West Bengal (India) on the north, RANGPUR district on the south, KURIGRAM district and Kuchbihar district of West Bengal on the east, Nilphamari and Rangpur districts on the west.
Main rivers: Tista, Dharla ,Saniajan Sarnamati, Trimohoni, Ratnai and Sati .The river Saniajan originating from the Himalaya has strong current and Tista is the major river here.
Specialty: The biggest irrigation project of the country Tista Barrage Project (length 615 m) is located at Doani of Hatibandha upazila of this district. It is called a district of enclaves. The total area of the 33 enclaves (27 are in Patgram) is 1807 hectares. The biggest enclaves are Dahagram and Angarpota. The Tin-Bigha corridor connects these two enclaves with the main land.

There are a lot of tourist attractions and also have archaeological sites in Lalmonirhat.some archaeological placs are Subadar Monsur Khan Mosque (known as Nidaria Mosque), Harano (lost) Mosque (8th century AH), Tusharbandhar Zamindar Bari,Kakina Rajbari. the tomb of Hazrat Shah Sufi Muhammad Fazlur Rahman (known as Blind Hafez) and Kabi Bari (house and collections of poet Sheikh Fazlul Karim). Sindhumati dighi and Hussain Sarabor (dry pond) are also historical and enjoyable place to visit.

Lalmonirhat Town:
It’s municipality was established in 1973.the town consists of 9 wards and 63 mahallas. It has one dakbungalow and one Circuit House. The area of the town is 17.62 sq km. It has a population of 56672; male 52.02% and female 47.98%; density of population is 3216 per sq km. The literacy rate among the town people is 47.9%
Lalmonirhat town is well known as a railway junction and it is The head quarters of the western region of Bangladesh Railway.Before partition of Bengal Lalmonirhat was one of the biggest railway junctions of the then undivided India.
During World War BRITISH and AMERICANS camped at Lalmonirhat during the period of Second World War. A defence Air Force Station estableshed The then British Government to tackle the JAPANESE is near the Lalmonirhat town, quite close to the Indian Border.
